This year was the 18th year that Toronto has hosted Doors Open. It ran on May 27 & May 28. It is a great opportunity to free and rare access to over 150 buildings of architecturally, historically, or culturally interests. I went on Saturday only but started late in the day, and since the event closes by 5pm, I was only able to visit a hand full of buildings. My tour included The Great Hall, CAMH, Campbell House and Osgoode Hall. The best plan of action is to get the event guide in The Toronto Star a week before the event to help plan your excursion. You can also pick up a copy of the guide at each location. I didn’t really have a game plan, so I started along Queen St. West and made my way towards downtown. Plus it helps to start early, doors open at 10:00 and some of the popular buildings have line ups.
